Our inaugural coffee is the result of a collaboration between the Immigrant Coffee Company and Finca Chamtacá located in the Department of Alta Verapaz in Guatemala.  This Estate Reserve Single-Origin Coffee was grown at an elevation in excess of 4,000 feet in an area marked by cloud forests and a rich green that words fail to describe.  Searching online for single-origin coffees from the Coban region of Guatemala will not yield many results as its coffees are often purchased by large roasters to help provide balance to lower quality and lower cost beans from different regions of the world, as well as different regions of Guatemala.  These 100 percent strictly hard bean European Presentation coffee beans carry subtle sweetness and a complex flavor profile.

During the summer of 2012, samples of Finca Chamtaca coffee were shared with coffee drinkers in Minnesota, Washington, D.C., and Wyoming.  All samplers enjoyed the brew and asked when they could get more, and more importantly, where they could buy it.  While tasting this years harvest, the Coffee Peeps at the Immigrant Coffee Company chose to select an assortment of bean size based upon the assortment's enhanced flavor profile.   

The Coffee Peeps think the coffee is best enjoyed black, free of any additives and they hope you will enjoy it as much as they do.  Purchasing the whole been option will allow one to prepare the grind to match your needs from a Chemex coffee maker, to a conventional drip machine, to a $10 drip maker with a second-hand carafe.  Our ground coffee is calibrated for conventional drip machines that still dominate kitchens and break rooms across America.

Two roasts are provided: a dark roast and a medium roast.  The medium roast naturally maintains a more diverse flavor profile; however, given the diversity of the bean size, natural coffee flavors still make it through to the dark roast.  Try both roasts and see which you prefer.
